A data protection officer has not been appointed, as the statutory requirements for this are not met.
We process as little personal data as possible. Using the horoscope content requires no registration and no disclosure of your name. The zodiac sign or date of birth you enter in the app is stored solely locally on your device (see section 4) and is not transmitted to us.
For certain features we use third-party services (e.g. analytics, crash reporting, advertising, subscription management). The data processed and the legal bases are described in detail below.
When the app starts and during use, data is processed automatically to deliver content and for technical reasons, in particular device information (device type, operating system and version, app version, language setting), an IP address (for the technical connection), and the time of access. Some of this processing takes place via the Google services named in section 5.
Your settings are stored locally on your device (technically via shared_preferences) and are not transmitted to a server. This includes, for example, your chosen zodiac sign or date of birth, language and display settings, and the status of in-app toggles (such as for notifications). You can delete this data at any time by resetting the app data in your system settings or by uninstalling the app.
We use the Firebase platform and other services provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Depending on the feature, data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA (see section 15).
For the analytics and advertising services (sections 5b and 6), Google also processes data in part for its own purposes and is, to that extent, itself a (joint) controller under data protection law. For this independent processing, Google’s own privacy notices additionally apply (see section 13).
The daily horoscope texts are loaded from Google’s cloud database Firestore. For this, your IP address is technically processed in order to deliver the content to your device. No user profiles are created in Firestore.
To improve the app, we collect pseudonymized usage statistics, e.g. screens viewed, features used, drop-offs, approximate region (derived from the IP), device and app information, and an app instance ID assigned by Google. This does not allow us to infer your identity.
If the app crashes, an error report is generated automatically to identify and fix stability problems. Such a report contains technical data such as the error/stack trace, device type, operating system version, app version, timestamp, and a pseudonymous installation identifier. Plain-text personal data is not intentionally collected.
In the free version we show advertising via Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited). This may involve processing an advertising identifier (e.g. Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID), IP address, device and usage data in order to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
Paid subscriptions are handled via the RevenueCat, Inc. platform (USA), which manages purchases and subscriptions for us as a processor. This involves processing a pseudonymous app user ID, purchase and transaction data (purchased product, purchase time, subscription status, store country, platform-side purchase identifiers) and device information, in order to provide your purchase status across devices and to restore purchases.
The actual payment is processed exclusively via the Apple App Store (Apple Inc.) or Google Play (Google Ireland Limited). We do not receive your payment details (e.g. credit card); these are processed solely by the respective store.
If you wish, we send you notifications (e.g. your daily horoscope) via Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google). For this, a unique push token is assigned to your device. We may group notifications by attributes such as zodiac sign, language, or region (topic assignment) without identifying you by name. Push notifications require permission in your device’s system settings and can be disabled there and in the app at any time.
Occasionally we display a request to rate the app using the standard function provided by Apple or Google. This takes place via the interface provided by the operating system; we receive no personal data and no information about whether or how you rated the app.
For the visual appearance we use fonts that may be loaded via Google Fonts. If a font is loaded at runtime, your IP address is technically transmitted to Google. No user profiles readable by us are created in this process.
When you share content via the share feature, your operating system’s share sheet opens; any further processing is governed by the app you choose. Via links (e.g. to this legal text or external sites) you may leave our app; external offerings are subject to their own privacy policies.
For serving personalized advertising (section 6), the advertising networks involved may build a usage profile for advertising purposes (profiling). This profiling serves solely to select relevant ads and requires your consent.
There is no automated decision-making that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you (Art. 22 GDPR). The horoscope content shown is provided based on the zodiac sign you select and has no legally binding or comparably significant character.

The app is not directed at children. It is intended for use by persons aged 16 and over. Persons under 16 should only use the app with the consent of a parent or guardian; in particular, consent-based processing (e.g. analytics, personalized advertising) requires valid consent under Art. 8 GDPR. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Some of the providers used (in particular Google and RevenueCat) may process data in the USA or other third countries. Where no adequate level of data protection recognized by the EU Commission exists there, transfers are based on appropriate safeguards, in particular the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR) or — for certified US recipients — the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as required by statutory retention periods. Data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. The retention periods of the services used are governed by their own policies.
Under the GDPR you have, in particular, the following rights:
To exercise your rights, a message to privacy@horoscope-app.com is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for your place of residence.
We update this privacy policy when the app, the services used, or the legal framework change. The current version available in the app applies at any given time.
